The American pitbull terrier is truly mans best friend


Yes, there has been bad press associated with these dogs, but what you need to remember is that bad attitude and a mean disposition is something that ANY dog is taught. It does not come naturally.
These pitbulls are very intelligent, loyal and eager to please. They can coexist with young children and other animals, with no problem. In fact, they are typically protective of their young housemates.
Pitbull puppies are usually a better option when it comes choosing a dog who will be living with other animals or children. They are more tolerant and not set in their ways, it is that of older dogs.
Taking a new puppy to the park or other public facility is an excellent way to allow him to socialize with strangers and to body with his new family, as well.
Pitbulls are wonderful companions, especially for those who love the outdoors. They are very active and love to take long walks or even go hiking in the mountains. Some pits have been known to love the hunt.
Even though these dogs are very energetic they are suitable for apartment living. As long as they receive adequate exercise, smaller living quarters should not be a problem. A walk around the block, several days each week, is beneficial to both dog and master.
Pitbulls have been used as therapy dogs, for many years. In fact, Helen Keller's most faithful companion was a pitbull. They adapt well to this sort of work because they have a high tolerance to pain and in even temperament, when properly trained.
American pitbull terriers had been trained and hearing dogs and are commonly used in search and rescue situations. There are many documented instances of these dogs successfully locating lost and/or injured individuals, in many different circumstances.
During World War I, Stubby the pitbull earned several Medals of Honor and even the rank of Sergeant. He was given a hero's welcome and can truly be considered man's best friend.
There are thousands of instances like the ones mentioned here. When a search of a loyal, intelligent, fun loving animal consider the American Pitbull Terrier... you won't regret it.
